Fernandina Beach PRIDE Scholarship


Future Secondary Vocational/Technical School or College/University Students are Eligible!

SUMMARY:

The Fernandina Beach Pride Scholarship celebrates service to the LGBTQ community. It aims to improve economic mobility for LGBTQ and ally students from Nassau County by funding college/vocational school scholarships. Recipients will be eligible for up to $2,000 for the 2025-2026 school year at an accredited post-secondary vocational/technical school, college or university. ELIGIBILITY, SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS & REQUIREMENTS:

 

Applicants must be/have:

  • A high school senior from Nassau County
  • An LGBTQ or ally student who has demonstrated service to the LGBTQ community or strong desire to serve the LGBTQ community
  • Acceptance at an accredited vocational/trade school or college/university for the Fall term of the 2024-2025 academic year


Scholarship Details & Requirements:

  • We place great emphasis on your passion for education and demonstrated service to the LGBTQ community and/or desire to serve the LGBTQ community.
  • Multiple applicants may be selected; the final number will depend on applicant volume and qualifications, as well as available funds.
  • The Fernandina Beach Pride Scholarship provides up to $2,000 once and may be used to cover your tuition, fees, on-campus housing and/or books at an accredited non-profit academic institution in the 2025-2026 academic year.


TIMELINE:

Applications will close on March 31, 2025, and our team will work to review them over the following weeks. All applicants will be notified of decisions by April 25, 2024 via email. Please do not email with inquires about status updates before that time. Depending on application competitiveness, a short interview via Zoom may be a part of the application process. You will be notified if an interview is requested.

Please note: This scholarship is explicitly for LGBTQ folks or allies who have demonstrated commitment to the LGBTQ community. Allies whose applications do not include LGBTQ service will not be considered.

Intersectionality is an analytical framework for understanding how aspects of a person's social and political identities combine to create different modes of discrimination and privilege. Examples of these aspects are gender, sex, race, class, sexuality, nationality, religion, disability, and physical appearance.
